There are two things that I’ve been putting off for quite some time: traveling more, and starting this blog.
I’ve been talking about both for as long as I can remember, and recently it seems that they are the only things that I ever really talk about. Luckily for me, both of those things are things that you just have to jump into, and I’m definitely one to dive right into things.
If you know anything about me, then you know that I am prone to becoming inspired. The tiniest thing will send me off on a mission, and I will spend the precious hours that I should be using to sleep to look up things on the Internet, send emails to perfect strangers and look up the best times to buy plane tickets.
Of course, making big changes and taking big steps, while intriguing, can be pretty scary. It’s easy to make excuses, like “traveling is expensive, especially on a ‘broke college student’ budget” and “I just don’t have enough time”. There always seems to be a voice in the back of my mind telling me that I couldn’t possibly do these things, which is exactly why I know that I have to do them.
Luckily for me, I really hate to spend my own money, especially on frivolous things. While some costs are unavoidable, and every once in a while my paycheck will burn a hole in my pocket, I’ve been pretty successful in saving up funds. I also find that it’s easier to save when you have a specific goal in mind, like a new camera, or a round-trip ticket to Ireland.
Of all the advice on travel that I’ve read up on on-line, the thing that keeps popping up and grabbing my attention is that if you really want to travel, and you feel like you’re being drawn to it, you just have to do it. You have to stop making excuses, put the money away and trust that everything is going to work out exactly like it’s supposed to.
I don’t want to just survive; I want to enjoy my life. I want to see more of this world than just my back yard, and I want to meet people from all walks of life. Life should be full of adventure and exploration and taking (healthy) risks, and the time to start is now.
So, thank you. Thank you for reading this. I hope that you will choose to read along with me as I go on adventures, and I hope that they will inspire you to start some adventures of your own.
P.S. During the time that I’m not able to travel, I will be posting about all sorts of things that are important to me, like fashion, beauty and travel. Stay tuned! Cheers!
