We’ve gotten a tiny break from the freezing weather, and we’ve had just plain old cold weather. Though I’m not about to retire me winter coat just yet, it does have me feeling like the end is in sight. I have major spring-fever, and what better way to pretend it’s spring than to go to a farmers market? Luckily, Rochester’s Farmers Market goes indoors during the colder months, to the old fire station downtown!
While the Winter Farmers Market just closed, the regular Farmers Market is almost back (it reopens in May)! The Winter Market is much smaller and condensed version than the regular one, and it gives you just enough of a taste to tide you over until May. For those of you who weren’t able to make it, please let my photos hold you over until then!
The really awesome thing about this market is that it’s full of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options, and at really great prices too!
My favorite stand at the market this year was “Grandma’s Secret”. They make amazing authentic Marathi Indian cuisine with all natural and nutritious ingredients. They have snacks and spices that are incredibly flavorful.
I couldn’t stop myself from picking up a bag of Kadboli Indian Pretzels, a turmeric spice blend and Poha Chivda. The Poha Chivda is type of flattened rice mixed with nuts and spices that has about a million uses. It can be eaten like a trail-mix, crushed up and used as a breading for chicken or fish, and I can’t wait to mix it up with some popcorn (which I also bought at the market from another stand)! I’ve also found some golden milk recipes that i’m looking forward to trying out with the turmeric spice blend.
If you’re looking for amazing snacks, desserts or spices at great prices, then I suggest you check them out. I’ll link to their page on my Facebook page if you want more information!
Until next time,
