A Brand I Stand (But Never Hide) Behind

Hello Friends!

I want to spend a little time today talking about a company (and some products) that I really love, bareMinerals.

As a teenager, I struggled a lot with self esteem (like most teenage girls do), and had a very limited understanding of makeup. Typically I would over apply a lot of makeup and end up looking orange. I had a big issue finding makeup that worked well for me, as I am super pale and often go through cycles of having dry skin. My pale Irish skin actually earned me the nickname “SPF 100”  in middle school after coming back from spring break with 2nd degree sunburns on my face (kids can be cruel). Luckily for me, not only does bareMinerals carry a shade that matches my skin tone really well (Opal 01 if you’re wondering just how pale I actually am), but it also comes with SPF 30 to help protect my skin from any more sun damage.

Once I got to college, I actually started to understand my skin and began taking much better care of it. bareMinerals makes that even easier with all natural ingredients that don’t make me break out or get oily (so I don’t feel the need to cake on a ton of makeup and suffocate my pores to begin with). Of course, I still get breakouts every now and then, but even when I do, their products make it easy to layer for coverage without feeling thick and greasy. Now, especially as it gets sunnier outside, I never leave the house without a layer of their Complexion Rescue gel cream tinted moisturizer with SPF. It provides light coverage and evens out my (often splotchy) complexion. On days that I need a tad more coverage, their Bareskin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer makes it easy to pinpoint problem spots, and I’ll finish off with a light layer of powder foundation to keep me from looking shiny. I also swear by their blushes and have been using the Rose eyeshadow pallette when I go out in the evenings.

I recently upgraded my old worn out brushes for a new set of Bare Mineral brushes. They offer both animal hair and synthetic brushes. Their animal hair brushes always use either goat or pony hair, and never harm the animals that they come from. Personally, I opted for the synthetic brushes, and I love how well they pick up pigment and how soft they are, even after a couple of washes.

Their products promote natural beauty, which I love. I think it’s so important for girls to find their confidence, especially today. The aesthetic that they promote is more gentle and feminine and subtle than a lot of other brands, and still powerful and bold. Women should be able to wear whatever kind of makeup they like (natural looking, bold & colorful, whatever), but should never feel like they have to cover up their natural features to look beautiful, and I love the way that bareMinerals accentuates that.

Of course when I’m spending a considerable amount of money with a single company, I want to be sure that I’m funding a company that I believe in. bareMinerals only uses healthy environmentally-friendly natural ingredients, and leaves all of the synthetic chemicals behind. It’s also really important to me that companies aren’t testing on animals and are cruelty-free, and never use child labor. BareMinerals checks all of those boxes for me.

With 20 foundation shades and new products and sales popping up all the time, I recommend investing in quality makeup with bareMinerals. They’ve currently got a couple of offers going on in-store and online. If you’re interested in checking them out, you can find more info on their website: www.bareminerals.com.

Until Next Time,

Nikki
