Who doesn’t love a good brunch?! That may be a very ‘millennial’ thing to say, but anyone who is going to pass up the chance to eat breakfast food & lunch food, and sip on bubbly mimosas at 11am is out of their mind.
Recently, I treated my momma to brunch at Toast in Birmingham. Toast has been on my list for quite some time, since I worked in Birmingham teaching music lessons in college. Unfortunately, the nature of brunch/lunch restaurants is that they close ungodly early and I was never working in the city when they were open. Times have changed, however, and my mom and I trekked back out to Birmingham on a beautiful…sunny…..day….(see photo below).
We ended up sprinting through the rain, soaking through our jackets and jeans and shivering in the air conditioning inside the packed restaurant. Luckily, they have the world’s most perfect hot chocolates! Their Campfire hot chocolate and Unicorn hot chocolate are equally delicious, and luckily mom and I are really great at sharing.
We try to spend as much time together as we can, and day dates are always a great way to turn a bad week around. Coordinating shirts help too! This particular brunch was followed by a belated Mother’s Day mani/pedi (because anyone who actually gets reservations on Mother’s day is a true superhero, sorry Mom, I tried), and a movie! Rocketman to be exact (which you can read a lovely review of, here.
Toast’s whole menu is delectable. Bacon-fried rice is an absolute must, and splitting a savory Nova Scotia Benny and the sweet B-Street French Toast was a stroke of genius. Seriously, come hungry.
Until Next Time!
